COVID-19 Mask Initiative

At the start of lock-down, with no work, no income and a surplus of fabric, I decided to start making face masks for the less fortunate. I got my community involved via our WhatsApp group in helping collect fabrics and donations.  BCI Security assisted in collection, delivery and distribution of masks to less fortunate areas. This included a tented community camp in the Roodepoort area, Roodekrans (Helderkruin) old age home and Floroma.

Eugene from ChilliPix then asked for assistance from our community to get involved in making masks. This initiative not only helped to feed many families as it brought in an income, but assisted the less fortunate within our area with mask donations, as well as food parcels. ChilliPix also donated 50 masks towards the Floroma old age home.

Because of this initiative, CraftiNess was mentioned in an article in the Roodepoort Record which also emphasised the need for COVID-19 awareness, and the importance of a community standing and working together.
